Indonesia’s focus on improving education has led to strong progress in primary schooling, with nearly 98% of eligible children now attending school across the country¹. However, there are still big differences between urban and rural areas, where schools may face challenges with infrastructure and access². Even though many children start school, only about 60% finish senior secondary education². Nutrition also plays a major role in learning, as nearly one in three children under five experiences stunting, which can affect both health and development³. Both market forecasts and government reports highlight the need for long-term, sustainable improvements to close these gaps and ensure every child has the opportunity to learn and grow⁴⁵.
In the West Java Region, rapid population growth has intensified pressure on local schools. Many classrooms are overcrowded, and some children face long commutes or share limited facilities. These conditions can hinder teachers’ ability to give individualized attention and reduce student engagement. Expanding educational infrastructure is vital to create safer, more inclusive environments that encourage steady attendance and successful learning outcomes.
This summer, HXP Builders will partner with a local school to help build a multipurpose auditorium-style classroom designed to serve students ages 10–20 far beyond the traditional school day. While the school currently enrolls around 50 students, it has the vision—and physical capacity—to welcome up to 50 more in the coming years as resources allow. With space to accommodate 150–200 people, this classroom will function as the heart of the school’s future growth. More than a classroom, this space represents possibility—creating room for more students, deeper learning, and a stronger community as the school’s impact continues to grow.
