Kenya has made major strides in development, but many families still face tough economic challenges. Because so many people depend on farming for their income, communities are especially vulnerable to droughts, unpredictable rainfall, and shifts in global markets¹. Rising prices for food, fuel, and other essentials add even more pressure, especially for families living in rural areas². At the same time, high public debt from large infrastructure projects makes it harder for the government to invest in things like education, healthcare, and social programs³. All these factors together make it difficult for many communities to build stability and improve their quality of life.
When you look closer at local schools and communities, these challenges become even more personal. Nearly 40% of Kenya’s population is under 18⁴, which puts huge pressure on the education system to keep up with a growing number of students. In many areas, classrooms are overcrowded, making it hard for teachers to give each student the attention they need⁵. Some schools don’t have proper sanitation facilities, which can impact students’ health and attendance—especially for girls⁶. In rural areas, many kids walk long distances just to get to school, and some aren’t able to finish because of limited resources, family responsibilities, or food insecurity⁷. These obstacles make it tough for students to focus, stay in school, and reach their full potential.
HXP Builders will partner with a local school to construct a spacious new classroom that will serve as a dedicated science lab. This project will help provide current students with the opportunity to turn theoretical learning into practice through hands-on learning, opening doors to greater educational opportunities.
